ETMall was Selected as Top 50 in Operational Performance

The results of the 2021 “Taiwan Top 2000 Companies Survey" by CommonWealth Magazine have been released. One of the most highlighted lists this year is the Top 200 Resilient Companies. Eastern Media International Corporation (2614) was ranked twenty-third in the “Top 100 Annual Growth” and third in the Service Industry. It also ranked eleventh in the 50 Fastest Growing Companies in the Service Industry. Furthermore, in the CommonWealth Magazine‘s “Taiwan Top 2000 Companies Survey", ETMall, a subsidiary of Eastern Media International Corporation, ranked 75th in the Service Industry Overall Performance, and even entered the top 10 in the Department Store, Wholesale, and Retail Industry, ranking ninth. In addition, it ranked twenty-third in the “Top 50 Operational Performance” list.

More than a year after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the selection of the “Top 200 Resilient Companies-Annual Growth Top 100" by CommonWealth Magazine was based on the companies with positive net income after tax and revenue growth rate in the first half of the year (January to June) in 2020. The top 100 companies were selected based on their annual revenue growth rate. Among the 18 companies in the service industry that were included in the list, Eastern Media International Corporation ranked third.

According to the CommonWealth Magazine, a “resilient company” is one that does not only anticipate, respond, and adapt to environmental changes, but also can grow in the face of adversity. The service sector bore the brunt of the pandemic in 2020. However, Eastern Media International Corporation continued to perform well, which shows that the organization has the ability to respond quickly, to turn crises into opportunities, and to grow in the face of adversity.

Thanks to the stay-at-home economy, ETMall’s annual revenue in 2020 reached NT$23.7 billion. Its profits grew 132% over the same period last year, and its EPS achieved the remarkable performance of NT$14. According to Gary Wang, Chairman of ETMall, the rapid growth in sales was driven by our readiness to meet the needs of consumers and adjust our strategies in the pandemic era. Starting last year, we introduced different marketing campaigns every month to meet the changing times with innovation. Furthermore, we also imported a large number of Japanese and Korean products to meet the needs of consumers who cannot go abroad to shop.

Facing the impact of the pandemic on Taiwan’s economy, ETMall has taken the lead in joining the national agricultural and fishery products sales team, assuming the role of a sales platform for Taiwan’s specialty agricultural produce. Since the launch of the “Eastern Farm” program, ETMall has collaborated with 13 central and local government leaders, and has been recognized for its outstanding sales performance.

ETMall had performed excellently in 2020, but the threat of the pandemic still exists in 2021. Following the “One Island, One Fate” spirit of solidarity in the fight against the pandemic, Eastern Group has announced a donation of NT$10 million to the city governments of Taipei and New Taipei as condolence money for the frontline pandemic personnel who contracted the virus while on duty and to help disadvantaged families affected by the pandemic. Mr. Wang said that he hopes that all Taiwanese people do their best when it comes to pandemic prevention. If we all wash our hands thoroughly and wear a mask, we will tackle the pandemic together. ETMall will continue to uphold the spirit of service innovation to provide the most convenient services to consumers.
