ETMall, a subsidiary of Eastern Media International Corporation (2614), today (9th) announced that its consolidated revenue (including Strawberrynet and Mama Bear Shopping) for January-April amounted to NT$9.554 billion, and its cumulative consolidated net income reached NT$608 million.
EPS earnings per share were NT$5.96, a record high of 12.5% YoY growth, and April’s revenue was NT$2.28 billion. Analysis showed that revenue growth was mainly driven by online performance, with an annual growth rate of 16.9%. In addition, Mama Bear Shopping, which focuses on fresh produce, had a strong performance from January to April, with revenues growing 124.8% YoY in April as the Lunar New Year buying trend continued and demand for fresh produce at home increased due to the rising pandemic in April.
In response to the rising pandemic, ETMall quickly set up an “Pandemic Prevention Section” to provide various epidemic prevention products. According to observations, the sales volume of the related epidemic prevention products in April increased by 133% compared to that in March. In the past week, the most searched keywords on the website were “NRICM101,” “Jing Si Herbal Tea,” and “toilet paper”; furthermore, the categories of best-selling products also changed significantly. In March, “slimming health care” was the best-selling category under health food, while in April, “nutritional health care” and “gray hair care” were the main focus. Over 12,000 units of “Eastern Comprehensive Care Capsules” and “Hua To Comprehensive Care Capsules” produced by Hua To Fu Yuan Tang Pharmaceutical Technology Co., Ltd., were sold in April, as Hua Tuo is the manufacturer of “NRICM101” authorized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. In addition, the epidemic prevention tea “Jing Si Herbal Tea,” launched by Tzu Chi Foundation’s Jing Si Books, was put on sale on ETMall at the beginning of the year and quickly rose to the top three of the top ten selling items in April, reflecting the public’s concerns and needs in response to the pandemic.
Since people are staying at home to prevent the spread of the pandemic, the home cooking trend is once again on the rise. To serve people who are self-isolating at home, ETMall planned a 5-day and 10-day “Pandemic Prevention Care Pack” at a discounted price of about 40% off. The Care Packs include bottled water, instant noodles, and ingredients to cook at home, as well as sanitizing alcohol and masks necessary for epidemic prevention. Mama Bear Shopping also planned 9 “Pandemic Prevention Value Packs” and 2 “Pandemic Prevention Vegetable Boxes.” In addition, free 3-hour express delivery service in Taipei City and New Taipei City is offered for purchases of NT$499 or more, and free home delivery throughout Taiwan for purchases of NT$699 within a single-temperature option, to make it convenient for people to make purchases quickly and get contact-free delivery of goods to their homes. To meet the demand of people looking to enhance their protection against the pandemic, the recently trending “Jing-Si-Herbal-Tea” for epidemic prevention also launched a special offer for Mother’s Day, while Jing Si Books is offering 15% off site-wide.
ETMall has nearly 10 million members and maintains an active membership rate of over 20%. To enhance the stability and engagement of our members, ETMall has distributed 23.3 billion ET coins, and each ET coin is equivalent to NT$1. We also continue to hold ET coin lucky draws, which have been well received by our members in terms of enhancing member services. With Mother’s Day coming up in May, which is the largest e-commerce activity period in the first half of the year, and the soaring demand for epidemic prevention products, ETMall said it expects its revenue to rise in May.
