Due to the rise in local COVID-19 cases and in line with the “Safe Enterprise Rapid Screening Program” called for by the New Taipei City Government, Eastern Group set up screening stations in northern, central, and southern Taiwan and conducted PCR tests on all employees in batches between June 11 and June 18. Eastern Group was the first enterprise in Taiwan to pioneer PCR screening for all employees. Group President Gary Wang emphasized in an interview that they treat their employees like family. After the PCR screening test, many employees felt very grateful. They expressed how much they enjoy working for Eastern with President Wang looking after them, because the PCR screening also protects the safety of their families. Due to the recent news about the side effects of vaccines, President Gary Wang of Eastern Group also decided to take out vaccine insurance for all employees in the hopes that employees’ minds can be put at ease when it comes to vaccination, so that employees and their families can receive the greatest protection and support.
Emily Lee, General Manager of ET-Life, said: “the Group’s employee insurance is fully covered by Eastern Group and will take effect from June 18 (Fri) 00:00. The insurance plan is ‘Chubb Vaccine Insurance,’ and the coverage is (1) NT$3,000 per day for general hospitalization; (2) NT$20,000 as consolation money for hospitalization (for hospitalization of more than 5 consecutive days); (3) NT$30,000 for hospitalization in an intensive care unit; (4) NT$300,000 for funeral expenses benefits. Each vaccination is covered for adverse reactions for up to 90 days. By doing this, President Wang of Eastern Group is protecting all of the Group’s employees. He is the most caring business owner I have met in my 35 years of work. From PCR screening to a series of measures to insure all employees, Mr. Wang has given Taiwanese society the best example of corporate pandemic preparedness.”
According to Eastern Group, the purpose of PCR tests and group-wide vaccine insurance is maintaining the health of employees, safeguarding the company, and more importantly, protecting the safety of society. At the beginning of the pandemic, the Group had already implemented strict prevention measures for all employees, including working from home, shift rotations, and suspension of visitor appointments. Around one-third of employees are working from home. Eastern Group not only implemented a high-standard corporate pandemic prevention mechanism to ensure the safety and health of employees, and also to support the government’s pandemic prevention efforts through practical actions by reducing the workload of medical personnel, working together with the whole nation to overcome the pandemic.
