Taiwanese professional golfer Lee Min has won the LPGA Symetra Tour at the Mission Inn Resort and Club Championship! On the 31st, a final round 1-under 72 and a total score of 211 was enough for Min Lee to claim her third Symetra Tour victory. Eastern Group has long sponsored young sportsmen in Taiwan, and Lee Min is no exception. Eastern Group gave her the support to help her win the championship.
Lee Min ranked thirty-second with a 74 shot in the first round. In the second round, she sank one eagle and seven birdies, jumping directly into the lead with the excellent score of 65. In today’s final round, Lee Min made a birdie on the first hole, followed by a second birdie on the twelfth hole. Even though she bogeyed on the seventeenth hole, she still won the first championship of the season by a one stroke lead.
Lee Min started playing at the age of 12 and officially started her professional career at the age of 17. This is the third time she won the LPGA Symetra Tour Championship after 2014 and 2019, and took away US$30,000 in prize money. After the tournament, Lee Min said that she had received a lot of support when she stayed in Taiwan last year. She also thanked her sponsors for providing her with the strongest support, which will allow her to keep going forward and chase her dreams on the US Tour.
In 2019, Lee Min met Gary Wang, President of Eastern Group, by chance, when they played golf together. He was instantly impressed by her excellent golfing skills. “A professional player with so many outstanding results at such a young age is definitely worth nurturing. It is part of our corporate responsibility to sponsor Taiwanese sportsmen to win awards for Taiwan. Our country needs more companies to come forward and support young talent.”
President Gary Wang is committed to giving back to the youth for what they have achieved. Therefore he established the Eastern Charity Foundation to provide long-term sponsorship to many young sportsmen from Taiwan so that they can have an opportunity to stand on the world stage. Since 2004, these young sportsmen include the then 14-year-old tennis-champion sisters Latisha and Angel Chan, who won the world championship and specially thanked President Wang for his support. Hsieh Yimin, a Taiwanese-born Go champion in Japan, has also been sponsored by Eastern since she was 12 years old. She also did not forget to share her joy with Mr. Wang after winning four consecutive championships in Japan.
Whether it is the golf player Lee Min, tennis players Latisha and Angel Chan, or the popular programs “Jungle Voice” and “CooKing,” Eastern is always looking to support young people through its professional expertise, encouraging their ambition, and giving them an opportunity to showcase themselves. We hope to discover more “treasures of Taiwan" by encouraging young people to boldly pursue their dreams and shine brightly on their own stage.
