Critically acclaimed Chinese-speaking singing talent show—“Jungle Voice”—is finally returning with season 3, which is set to air by the end of 2021. Season 3 of “Jungle Voice” had its first filming session yesterday (September 30). This season’s judge-mentors were also revealed, including famous singer-songwriter Harlem Yu and Golden Melody Award winner Lala Hsu. Lulu Huang, the host of the first two seasons, will also return to host the show. “Jungle Voice 3” is sure to be more exciting than ever with a star lineup of musical mentors for each episode and contestants selected from all over Taiwan competing on the same stage.
Season 3 of “Jungle Voice” will feature a completely new mentor duo to give the show a fresh spin. Harlem Yu has decades of experience in the industry and has produced many popular songs. In 2002, he won the Golden Melody Award for Best Male Mandarin Singer, while in recent years, he has also received praise for his role as a mentor at various singing talent shows from mainland China. On the other hand, Lala Hsu received the Best Mandarin Album Award and Best Female Mandarin Singer Award at the 29th Golden Melody Awards. With such accomplished mentors, the new season of “Jungle Voice” is sure to be like no other.
Hosting “Jungle Voice” for the third time, Lulu Huang is one of the most iconic figures among the new generation of Taiwanese hosts. She is also looking forward to working with a different group of mentors. “Jungle Voice” previously won the Best Variety Programme at the 54th Golden Bell Awards. In addition, many people hope that Lulu wins the Best Host in a Variety Programme Award thanks to the new season of this show.
During the first filming session of “Jungle Voice 3,” Lulu immediately reminded the contestants, “Don’t think you’re among friends” making clear the intensity and difficulty of the competition. This season will feature many new talents, some who are as young as 13 years old. During the three-person free-for-all, the first contestants to hit the stage were too nervous to sing properly. Harlem Yu commented that stress triggers the secretion of adrenaline, then was asked by the contestants how adrenaline relates to singing. Harlem quipped back: “it’s certainly more relevant than prostate secretions,” eliciting laughter from the audience. As for the second group of contestants, they demonstrated similar levels of competence, making it extremely difficult for the judges to choose a winner. Since all the contestants wore animal masks, the judges jokingly said, “It’s really hard to choose a winner based on their performance. Maybe we should choose the winner based on their masks instead?” 」
Season 1 of “Jungle Voice” won the Best Variety Programme Award at the 54th Golden Bell Awards. Season 2 went on to win the Best Variety Programme Award, Best Sound Award, Best Directing for Non-Drama Programme, and Best Art and Design Award. These awards serve as recognition for the efforts of the judge-mentors, contestants, and production crew. Despite the pandemic, ETtoday forged ahead and kept the production of the program on schedule to encourage young people to follow their dreams. “Jungle Voice 3” is set to air in December 2021.
Host Lulu said that the new stage and mentor duo for this year’s “Jungle Voice” has made the show a sensation even before airing. She explained that this season’s competition formats will include three-person free-for-all, one-on-one duels, collaboration competition with established singers, group competitions, senior-rookie collaboration competitions, and rivalry challenge competitions. Even more exciting is the championship for the final episode, which will be presented live with the final winner chosen by real-time voting. Those interested should tune in to ETtoday channels or streaming platform to catch the show live.
