This Sunday (May 9) is Mother’s Day. In addition to holding a number of activities to celebrate Mother’s Day, based on the spirit of giving back to society, ETMall also held a donation drive called “Protecting with Love, Purple Means Happiness” for this happy occasion. ETMall called on all its members and friends to come together and participate in public welfare activities. ETMall also announced a NT$1 million donation to the Department of Social Welfare of New Taipei City to help women who are victims of violence. At the Eastern Friends Lifestyle Festival held today (8th) by ETtoday, Peng Hung-Wu, General Manager of ETMall, announced a donation of NT$1 million to New Taipei City; Hsieh Cheng-Ta, Deputy Mayor of New Taipei City, received the donation on behalf of the city.
General Manager Peng Hung-Wu said that now that many people are getting ready to celebrate Mother’s Day, they should also understand that there are still many women in society who are victims of domestic violence. They need our love and care. Based on the spirit of giving back to society, from today until May 10, ETMall will donate NT$5 to New Taipei City’s Department of Social Welfare for every item purchased through the ETMall TV shopping channels to help victims of domestic violence. We hope that all our members and friends will join in to spread love and hope, and help the victims of violence get back on their feet. Let’s spread love to every corner of society!
According to statistics, there are 120,000 reported cases of domestic violence in Taiwan every year. Deputy Mayor Hsieh Cheng-Ta said that New Taipei City attaches great importance to the placement and protection of abused women. There are more than 16,000 reported cases every year, of which 8,500 are domestic violence cases, and 80% of the victims are women. All of these women and children who are victims of domestic violence are in urgent need of assistance. Therefore, he is very grateful for all the help that ETMall has provided. Amy Chang, Director of the Department of Social Welfare, New Taipei City, said that victims of domestic violence are often penniless when they leave their homes and are in great need of social and financial help. ETMall has always been passionate about public welfare. Its NT$1 million donation to the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Prevention Center, New Taipei City Government, was particularly heartwarming and meaningful, and will undoubtedly help the women who are victims of violence.
Eastern Group and the New Taipei City Government have joined hands to do public welfare work for many years. In response to the New Taipei City Good Day Love Platform, a donation of NT$1 million was made to New Taipei City’s Department of Social Welfare and Animal Protection and Health Inspection Office to help disadvantaged families and stray animals in January this year. To extend this love, Eastern Group called on its members on the eve of Mother’s Day to give back to society, in the hopes that this meaningful event can help more abused mothers and women to have the courage to stand up and say “No” to violence.
