ETMall, a subsidiary of Eastern Media International Corporation (2614), reported a consolidated revenue of NT$2.117 billion and an annual growth of 16% in October this year, showing a profit of NT$140 million and an annual growth of 106%. The company’s cumulative consolidated revenue from January to October 2020 reached NT$19.659 billion, with a profit of NT$1.121 billion, representing an annual growth of 177%. EPS reached NT$11.0, a year-on-year increase of NT$7.03, setting a new record high. According to ETMall, driven by the two events of Double 11 (Singles Day) and Double 12, the performance of Q4 is expected to be quite impressive. In preparation for the Double 11 event, ETMall launched a range of unique moves to respond to the expected sales, including the industry-first “Warehouse Everything-Must-Go Sale” and the “Overseas 8-Minute Live Broadcast Limited-Time Sale,” where goods were collected from countries worldwide. This move helped Taiwanese people fill the void from not being able to go abroad and allowed them to experience the thrill of overseas shopping from the comfort of their homes!
The channels under ETMall include: online shopping, TV shopping, catalogs, MOD, and StrawberryNET, with a total of over 9 million members in Taiwan. Due to the impact of the pandemic, this year’s consumer behavior has undergone a transformation, not only from physical to online shopping, but also a deeper reliance on online shopping, which has become the “new normal.” With the ETMall “11.11 Shopping Festival” currently underway, ETMall has brought together hundreds of brands and tens of millions of products this year, with a total price reduction of more than NT$100 million, which is sure to accelerate operation. Beauty and skincare products, household products, and household appliances are the most popular at the moment.
ETMall said that there were a number of “lightning buyers” at last year’s Double 11 event. One buyer spent NT$25 million on 1,691 items at one checkout, while another buyer spent more than NT$10 million on a total of 1,704 items. There were also 10 buyers who spent over a million on shopping. Their shopping carts were mostly filled with smartphones, laptops, tablets, and other electronic products. With this precedent, it is expected that the “11.11 Shopping Festival” this year will see the presence of these “lightning buyers” again, and ETMall is optimistic about the sales of the Double 11 period. Another peak in revenue is also expected.
In addition to ETMall, the TV shopping channel also launched some “unique moves”! From now on to November 13, ETMall’s TV shopping channel CH47 will be launching the “Global Shopping, Overseas Live Broadcast” Limited-Time Sale. Adhering to the spirit of EHS Select, CH47 aired synchronized overseas live broadcasts, leading members on a shopping trip across the world. Yesterday, the channel had successively connected with Spain, California (USA), and Fukuoka (Japan) to launch Olivar de Segura Premium Grade Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Trinetics Vionic orthopedic shoes, and Takada First Extract Thick Sesame Paste. On the cusp of the Double 11 event, tomorrow night the focus will be on products from Japan and South Korea. The “8-Minute Shiroi Koibito Limited-Time Sale” will be held from 20:00 to 22:40, featuring souvenirs, local produce, and fresh products from Sapporo, Hokkaido, Osaka, Miyazaki, Okinawa, and South Korea. Every 8 minutes, the offers will change to the next set of products, and more than 30 overseas products will be available for 160 minutes throughout the night. Every purchase of three items will receive Shiroi Koibito for free. Those watching TV can now also enjoy the thrill of shopping abroad!
What’s more, ETMall’s CH47 will be the first in the industry to launch the “Warehouse Everything-Must-Go Sale,” a 110-minute program starting at 22:40 on the night of Double 11, in which shopping experts will leave the studio and go on location to the ETMall logistics warehouse in Taoyuan to sell what they see on the spot, with the quantity being what is available onsite—it is guaranteed to be an exciting experience! ETMall said that on the day of Double 11, be sure to stay tuned to ETMall CH47. The shopping channel will be offering amazing discounts to members and 20% in ET coins will be rewarded each session. You will have to wait until next year if you miss out this time!
This year also coincides with the 21st anniversary of ETMall. Purchase just one item on any channel and get a chance to win a luxury tour around Taiwan in the lucky draw. Not only will there be a daily draw for a one-night, two-meal stay at the Grand Cosmos Resort Ruisui, Hualien, there will also be an additional monthly draw to win a 3-day, 2-night trip around the island on a 5-star tourist train, and the winner can take a companion for free.
Gary Wang, president of Eastern Group and chairman of ETMall, said that the second half of the year will enter the peak season of e-commerce, driven by the dual engines of Double 11 and Double 12. Revenue can reach a new record high, and the annual EPS is expected to exceed NT$13! In addition, five years since ETMall began to offer self-operated products in 2015, concentrating mainly on household consumables, the results are starting to pay off. This move has successfully changed the shopping habits of members, and ETMall has seen stable repurchase behavior. Therefore, unlike other e-commerce companies, ETMall’s performance will not dive after the Double 11 tide. It will be able to continue its popularity and maintain its sales results, so that its operations can continue to sail steadily forward.
