Recently, ETMall has launched the Eastern Farm show to help farmers with domestic sales. Not only has this move been well received by consumers, but 10 county and city government leaders in Taiwan have also been invited to the show to feature as shopping experts and help sell local agricultural products. Gary Wang, president of Eastern Group, said that Eastern Farm will be working together with small local farmers around the country on a long-term basis in the future. He is certain that if the stories of local farmers are told, with the soaring popularity of high-quality, Made-in-Taiwan (MIT) products and the warm-heartedness of the Taiwanese people, everyone will be willing to make purchases and help out the small farmers. Today, Hsu Chen-Wei, Hualien County Magistrate, was invited to the shopping show for the second time to sell organic, pesticide-free vegetable boxes. This not only helps local farmers, but also provides the most convenient product sets for members based on the needs of Taiwanese people.
According to the results of the 2016 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) from the Health Promotion Administration, adults over the age of 18 with a daily intake of three vegetables and two fruits only reached 12.9% (9.4% of males and 16.3% of females), which is less than the number of servings recommended in the Dietary Guidelines; only 20.7% of the citizens consumed five servings of vegetables and fruits as recommended. Studies have shown that vegetables and fruits are rich in vitamins, minerals, and dietary fiber, which can promote gastrointestinal peristalsis, increased probiotic population in the gut, and lower blood cholesterol. In recent years, research has found that the phytochemicals in fruits and vegetables exert anti-tumor effects, which can reduce the risk of cancer. A daily intake of the right amount of fruits and vegetables can promote good health and prevent chronic diseases.

Hualien County Magistrate Hsu Chen-Wei said that it was the second time that she appeared on Eastern Farm. This May, she promoted Hualien watermelons on the show; the watermelons were snapped up and their prices soared in moments. On her second visit to Eastern Farm, she especially selected an organic vegetable box that is full of the hard work of farmers to share good health and wellness with everyone. On the show, Hsu Chen-Wei ate raw butter lettuce and baby corn in front of the camera to express her confidence in the products. She also shared her tips on how to stay healthy, and recommended busy office workers to make tea out of corn silk and grated lotus root.
ETMall has long supported local quality agricultural products. This year, the company launched the Eastern Farm show to help farmers with domestic sales. In addition to successfully selling out more than 900 Hualien Fenglin giant watermelons in 40 minutes, some of the other achievements include selling out 1,600 Chiayi Aurora muskmelons, selling out 3,500 sets of Taitung atemoyas in seconds, selling out 4,000 sets of Tainan Guanmiao pineapples, and selling 8,000 fourfinger threadfins and hybrid giant tiger groupers, achieving brilliant sales performance each time. Gary Wang said that Eastern Farm advocates public welfare and supports Taiwanese farmers. We have upheld the commitment of EHS Select to look for quality products from all over Taiwan, so that consumers can enjoy delicious local flavors and farmers can see rising domestic sales. We also hope that Eastern Farm can lead by example, and we invite all sectors to jointly support Taiwan’s local agricultural industry.
