Eastern Global New Network Marketing Fulfills its Corporate Social Responsibility Gary Wang Donates Thousands of Bags of New Chihshang Rice During the Mid-Autumn Festival

Eastern Global New Network Marketing (Eckare) has been thriving under the leadership of Chairman Gary Wang. As both the chairman of the Eastern Charity Foundation and the president of Eastern Group, Mr. Wang still finds time to fulfill his corporate social responsibility to help the underprivileged groups in society. This Mid-Autumn Festival, Chairman Gary Wang donated thousands of bags of new Chihshang rice from Taitung to seven major social welfare organizations. This morning, Peng Cheng-Tung, General Manager of Eckare, donated 300 bags of Taitung Chihshang rice to the Kuang Jen Social Welfare Foundation as a warm and sincere season’s greeting gift for the Mid-Autumn Festival. Mr. Peng also personally delivered the rice to the foundation’s canteen for the physically and mentally disadvantaged located in “Taipei Nanhai Development Center”.

General Manager Peng Cheng-Tung of Eckare said in his speech that since the establishment of Eckare in 2018, it has created countless job opportunities in just two years and eight months, and currently has around 240,000 partners and internship providers. These partners have all gained a new lease on life and are enjoying extra income as a result of joining Eckare, while the highest-tiered Crown and Diamond Distributors are earning even more. Today’s donation of Eastern Farm’s Chihshang rice from “EHS Select” on behalf of the President is just the beginning. In the future, we will invite our business partners to organize public welfare activities together to contribute to both themselves and the community. “One lamp can light up another lamp, one cloud can push another cloud”. Let us all join forces and unleash the spirit of Eckare.

The thousands of bags of Chihshang rice donated by Eastern Charity Foundation this time were all grown by “Eastern Farm”, an authentic Chihshang farm of the highest quality. The rice was irrigated with clean spring water and grown using natural farming methods that help maintaining a balanced ecosystem. In addition, the rice has been certified by Tse-Xin Organic Agriculture Foundation (TOAF) so the consumers can have peace-of-mind. As a result, the Chihshang rice produced is naturally fragrant and has the perfect chewy texture, and the cooked rice remains tasty even when it’s cold.

Fr. Stephen Huang, director of Kuang Jen Social Welfare Foundation, specially expressed his gratitude for this donation. He said that many businesses have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic this year, which has made it difficult for social welfare organizations to raise funds and resources, so he was especially grateful to Eastern for donating rice to help out those in need. To be able to enjoy such delicious Chihshang rice not only fills the stomach, but also satisfies the soul. The Foundation will share this love by distributing the rice to the families it serves, in the hopes that this love will be passed on from generation to generation.

Today, Fr. Stephen Huang of Kuang Jen Social Welfare Foundation also invited General Manager Peng Cheng-Tung of Eckare, Deputy CEO Kuan Chieh-Lin of Eastern Charity Foundation, and the service beneficiaries. They put on aprons, hats, and face masks to take a tour of the canteen for the physically and mentally disadvantaged located on the second floor of “Taipei Nanhai Development Center”, where they learned about the training process and served a meal to the service beneficiaries.

Many families were shattered by the Chi-Chi earthquake in 1999. In order to assist disaster relief efforts, rebuilding of homes, and counselling work, President Gary Wang of Eastern Group established the Eastern Charity Foundation the following year. Now, 20 years after its establishment, the Foundation’s service beneficiaries have expanded from disaster victims to include indigenous communities, children from remote and rural areas, and disadvantaged groups. The Eastern Charity Foundation incorporates the resources of the Group and invites ETMall members to donate 5 million invoices each year. Furthermore, to ensure that children can be full of energy for learning on a full stomach, the Foundation has also been a long-term sponsor of the “Breakfasts Made of Love” program, which is now in its 14th year. This June, ETMall spokespersons Jacky Wu and Sandy took a 5-hour train ride in the blistering summer heat to visit Dongzhu Elementary School of Fuli Township in beautiful Hualien. They made lace egg rolls, lemon cakes, and fries by hand as snacks for the children and enjoyed a day of festivities together!

Kuang Jen Social Welfare Foundation was formerly a church, and started caring for the mentally disabled and providing services to the mentally disabled in Taiwan as early as the 1950s. The services range from early intervention for children with intellectual disabilities to daily life training and care during the day, and accommodation services for adults at night. In recent years, it has been entrusted by the Department of Social Welfare of the Taipei City Government to manage the “Taipei Nanhai Development Center” on Yanping South Road. The Taipei Nanhai Development Center officially opened in September 2019, and consists of two floors on the first and second floors. It provides services such as “work activities”, “technical arts and pottery training”, and “self-care training” for persons with moderate, severe, and profound mental and physical disabilities over 18 years of age. The “Kuang Jen Canteen for the Physically and Mentally Disadvantaged” was opened on the first floor and it provides training to the service beneficiaries related to cooking and serving meals in the hopes of helping these disadvantaged youths gain the skills to live independently.
