To promote the city’s landscape and respond to the city’s low-carbon policy, the Public Works Department, New Taipei City, held the “Green Landscaping of Construction Fencing Contest”. The final results of the contest showed that the “Urban Forestry Category – Excellence Award” was awarded to the “Urban Grace Gallery”, the global operation headquarters of the Eastern Group in New Taipei City. Meanwhile, the “Visual Art Category – Excellence Award” was given to Honor Construction Ltd. In an interview on the 4th, Deputy Mayor Chen Chwen-Jing said that Eastern Group has not only enhanced the aesthetics of the city, but has also improved the corporate image. He thanked the Group for taking its responsibility to the society seriously.
New Taipei City’s Deputy Mayor Chen further explained that it is inevitable to see construction sites in the living environment. Although it is part of the community, if the site is dirty and disorderly, it would affect the quality of life of the company. Through this competition, it can be seen that the Eastern Group is an orderly company. The Group not only added to the urban landscape and urban aesthetics, but it was also a good tool for corporate image enhancement, and he thanked Eastern for its responsibility to the society. Chen Chwen-Jing emphasized that the beautification of the site fencing is only a part of urban aesthetics. In the 2030 vision proposed by the city government, the city hopes to both beautify the lifestyle zone and incorporate cultural heritages into the city’s appearance through overall development. He looks forward to a future where there it would not only be integration, sustainability, or urban health standing separately, but hopefully it will all come together in one package.
Director Chan Jung-Feng of New Taipei City’s Public Works Department pointed out that the judging panel of the construction fencing contest divided the entries into two groups: “Urban Forestry Category” and “Visual Art Category” according to the greening aesthetics or creative design of each work. The contestants incorporated the concepts of forest greenery and creative visual design to create meaningful lifestyle aesthetics and a low-carbon environment, transforming the cold, unattractive construction fencing into an urban art gallery and giving it a new look. The judging panel of the Green Landscaping of Construction Fencing Contest comprised scholars, experts, and associations, while the judging took place through a combination of onsite evaluation and public online voting. Winners were selected according to a number of items, including design concepts, greening and beautification effects, site environment, and maintenance management based on the objective of “aesthetics.”
Chen Tung-Ho, CEO of Eastern Global New Network Marketing said that the “Eastern Urban Grace Gallery” is a joint effort between TMA Architects & Associates and Dehwa Construction together with Eastern Group, and named by President Gary Wang himself. It represents God’s blessing of green energy and sustainability to New Taipei City, and also provides a visual feast for the city. The outdoor natural plant green wall of “Eastern Urban Grace Gallery” is 340 meters long and is connected from the south and east. It is filled with more than ten kinds of plants such as dwarf umbrella tree, palm lily, Philodendron, golden dewdrop, and purple secretia. LED light boxes from an Eastern Group affiliated company are installed between the plants. This not only takes care of nighttime lighting and safeguards the safety of pedestrians and traffic, but the photosynthesis of the plants can also purify the air and regulate the climate, making it a city garden on the wall. It is a great honor to receive this award, and it represents the recognition of the government and the public for Eastern Group’s ongoing commitment to green energy and sustainable corporate social responsibility.
Starting in 2022, each of Eastern Group’s affiliated companies have committed themselves to promoting the “first year of ESG sustainable development” program. For example, Eastern Natural Beauty implemented the recycling of empty bottles for their beauty products, and are offering even better discounts to consumers by reducing and reusing plastic. Likewise, ETMall is also launching the “recycled packaging bag”, which they hope to promote together with the members and the public. The company hopes to encourage consumers to reduce plastic use and love the earth. it is also looking to gradually strengthen the management of the green supply chain to fulfill the commitment to protect the earth’s natural environment. In addition, the Eastern Group attaches great importance to environmental sustainability issues. Last year, Eastern Media International Corporation and ETMall won the Gold Award in the trade and department store category of the “Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards”. Eastern Media International Corporation also won the Bronze Award at the inaugural “Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards” with its smart barns. On March 12 (Arbor Day) this year, in response to New Taipei City Government’s “New Taipei City Mountain Sea Forestation Plan”, Eastern took the lead in providing saplings and tree maintenance funds. At present, it is planned that 200 saplings, including those of bald cypress, osmanthus, shoeblack plant, and sandpaper vine will be planted at Wen Sun Farm. ETMall members and distributors were also invited to join in to help the company fulfil its corporate social responsibility. On September 17, 2022, headed by Group President Gary Wang, the employees joined hands with five universities and colleges, including Fu Jen Catholic University, Hsing Wu University, Shih Hsin University, Taipei Medical University, Mackay Junior College of Medicine, Nursing, and Management, as well as Wanli Elementary School. Nearly 800 people participated in the beach cleanup event in Green Bay, Wanli District, New Taipei City. Up to 1,395.8 kilograms of marine waste was cleared in tribute to the ocean.
